1. General Terms and Conditions
a. Acceptance of Terms
By registering for or participating in MAIHS, you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions. The organizers reserve the right to update or modify these terms at any time. Participants will be notified of any significant changes via the contact information provided during registration.
b. Eligibility
This hackathon is open to individuals and teams who meet the following criteria:
- Participants must be at least 18 years of age, unless otherwise specified.
- Teams must consist of [X] to [Y] members.
- Employees, directors, and immediate family members of the organizers, sponsors, or judges are [eligible/ineligible] to participate.
2. Hackathon Rules
a. Participation

- All team members must be registered individually.
b. Submissions
- Each team must submit a working prototype, code repository, or presentation by the specified deadline.
- Submissions must be the original work of the team and must not violate any third-party rights.
c. Judging and Evaluation

3. Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)
a. Ownership
All intellectual property rights, including but not limited to copyrights, patents, trademarks, and trade secrets, created or developed by a team during the hackathon shall remain the exclusive property of the team and its members. The organizers do not claim any ownership over the solutions, prototypes, code, or other deliverables created by the teams.
b. Moral Rights
In accordance with Swedish law, moral rights (such as the right to be identified as the author) always remain with the creator and cannot be transferred.
c. Responsibility for IPR
Each team is solely responsible for ensuring that their solution does not infringe upon the intellectual property rights of any third party. Teams are also responsible for pursuing any patent applications, trademark registrations, or other legal protections for their solutions.
d. License to Organizers
By participating in the hackathon, teams grant the organizers a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, and irrevocable license to use, reproduce, and publicly display the team’s name, project title, and a brief description of their solution for promotional and reporting purposes related to the hackathon. This license does not extend to the use or commercialization of the solution itself.
e. Employee Creations
If a participant is an employee of a company, they are responsible for ensuring their participation and any solutions created comply with their employment agreement and company policies.
4. Liability and Indemnification
a. Disclaimer of Liability
The organizers, their affiliates, and their respective directors, officers, employees, and agents shall not be liable for:
- Any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from participation in the hackathon.
- The actions, submissions, or conduct of any participant or team.
- Any claims of intellectual property infringement, data loss, or misuse related to participants’ solutions.
- Personal injury, loss, or damage to property during in-person events (participants attend at their own risk).
b. Indemnification
Each participant agrees to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the organizers and their affiliates from and against any and all claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or related to:
- Breach of these terms and conditions.
- Infringement of any intellectual property rights or other rights of any third party.
- Violation of any applicable laws or regulations.
5. Code of Conduct
Participants agree to:
- Act respectfully and professionally toward all attendees, organizers, sponsors, and judges.
- Refrain from harassment, discrimination, or disruptive behavior.
- Comply with all applicable laws and regulations.
Violations of the Code of Conduct may result in disqualification from the hackathon and removal from the event.
6. Data Protection
For information on how your personal data is collected, processed, and protected, please refer to our Privacy Policy page, which is fully compliant with GDPR and the Swedish Data Protection Act (2018:218).

7. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These terms and conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Sweden. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with these terms shall be settled exclusively by the District Court of Stockholm (Stockholms tingsrätt), Sweden.
8. Prizes and Taxation
a. Prize Responsibilities
Prize winners are solely responsible for any applicable taxes on prizes received. The organizers will not withhold taxes but will report prizes to the Swedish Tax Agency (Skatteverket) if required by law.
b. Prize Conditions
Prizes are non-transferable and may not be exchanged for cash or other consideration. The organizers reserve the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value if the original prize is unavailable.
9. Miscellaneous
a. Severability
If any provision of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
b. Entire Agreement
These terms and conditions constitute the entire agreement between the organizers and participants regarding the hackathon.
